OHSBVA Executive Director
Dear Friends of Boys' Volleyball,
We are hopeful that current and on-going efforts to address the coronavirus situation will be successful in mitigating the spread of the COVID-19 virus and allow a return to what will clearly become a new normal. Our focus is and always will be the health and safety of everyone connected to boys' high school volleyball.
The documents on our home page reflect what we currently know, and our home page will continue to be updated as more information becomes available and announcements are made. We will follow the mandates and guidelines of our Governor, the CDC and the Ohio Board of Health to ensure the safety and protection of all. Our hope is to salvage a good portion of the boys' volleyball season with whatever steps are needed to promote health and well-being and to minimize risk.
The OHSBVA Board of Directors and I are fully committed to clear, timely and effective communications with all our constituencies. Here is what we know as of right now.
Effective no later than Tuesday, March 17 and through no earlier than Sunday, April 5, there will be no OHSBVA practices, scrimmages or contests, which mirrors directives of Ohio Governor Mike DeWine closing Ohio's schools through at least April 3. Pending any changes from the Governor's office or medical professionals, spring sport practices may begin on Monday, April 6, and scrimmages and/or contests may begin no earlier than Sat. April 11. School facilities SHALL NOT be utilized during this period. Let's keep our student-athletes safe and utilize common sense and "social distancing" to minimize risk as we commit to getting through this crisis!
For additional guidance, please review the two OHSAA documents that were updated at about 3 pm on March 13. This situation is fluid and subject to hour-by-hour changes. We will continue to use our website to keep folks informed.
Gary Hajek, OHSBVA Executive Director
